Role of Language tools in your website

Language translation tools can also contribute to the popularity of your website. Its most beneficial factor is that it provides the visitor of your website an option to translate it into different languages. So, if a person who doesn’t understands English (or your website’s language) can now still understand the content of your website. Another benefit of it is that you don’t actually require a language specialist to get your website translated. A simple JavaScript coding will do the rest. There are basically three main websites that offer this facility. With respect to popularity they are as follows:-

Google Translate
A very popular tool Google provides you with language translation flags. Although the links are dynamic. Google crawler may not index them. Google translate works well with blogger as well as any other website. The images are hosted by blogger only. By putting it on your website, you are providing your visitors a read made form for language translation. All they have to do is just one click. They can be
customized too.

Remember to change the value of “u” which is currently set yoursite.com

2. Wordlingo
Is only designed for old blogger [But can be changed] .Since it is no more free , it’s popularity has also decreased. It’s big advantage is that it gives static links meaning a robot will index an translated page of your website too! Users will have to visit their official website in order to get a page translated. Is customizable
Don’t forget to change <$BlogitemPermalink> to the proper url of your website if you are using the new blogger

3. AltaVista /Bablefish
It offers two scripts, one which is a hidden script and automatically translates the page to the visitors nation. And other is a big box which contains small, low graphic flags of nations in which the website can be translated. Its biggest disadvantage is that is not customizable + it displays an odd banner of AltaVista on top of it. It is a ready made ,so users just need to click once to get a webpage translated. Good for a newbie as no complexity of scripts is there.

Customisation
Have you ever noticed a cool on-mouse over & out effect on language translation flags in big websites? You can also do the same. First of all these are images so download a copy of it in your computer. Now you can make some changes like making it a bit blur! Its size can also be changed by changing the images height & width. Now you can give the image the source of a blurred one & when mouse come on your website you can give the source off a brighter one.A cool mouse over event!
If your site has a shortage of space you can bookmark the translated links of your website, make a cool drop down menu (with the <select> tag) & give the value of it the same of the link you book marked (of each language). This develops a drop down menu like that of Google analytics</select>

Comments

  1. All these translation tools provide machine translations i.e. automated translation based on a software program. They are generally good to know about the overall meaning of the sentence in question But can never be a match to natural translation done by a human interpreter. Hence they need to be used with caution.

  2. I am not that a fan of the Google translator, normally it only translates word by word and most of times it could confuse people
